Thinking about going full-time – am I crazy?

I need advice.

My current day job makes me miserable – I don’t enjoy the field I’m in, and it’s really taking a toll on my mental health. On the flip side, creating content and tapping into my creative side brings me genuine joy.

I’ve just started on OF, and part of me wants to quit my job and go all in – not just on OF, but maybe on other online side hustles too.

Is that unrealistic? Or is it okay to leap like this? I’d love to hear both the practical and the delusional takes. I just want to enjoy my life, and right now, my day job is making that hard.

  1. I’d recommend testing the waters before quitting your day job. OnlyFans takes a lot more effort than people often expect, and it’s not always easy to start earning a substantial income right away.

When I started, I didn’t have another job to leave, so I jumped in full-time from the beginning. I’ve been a full-time creator since August 2022 with no other income streams, and thankfully, I was lucky enough to start making enough to support myself and my family of three right away. But not everyone will have that same experience.

So my advice is: don’t rush into it. Take some time to see how things go, build a steady income, and make sure it’s sustainable before fully committing.

  2. What I’d suggest is making sure your monthly income from OF is consistent enough to fully support your lifestyle before quitting your day job. Don’t forget to factor in things like taxes and health insurance.

I’ve actually been thinking about leaving my full-time job myself to focus on OF, but what holds me back is the thought of losing my benefits and not being able to cover my mortgage if my income dips. Stability is key, so make sure you’re really in a good spot financially before making the leap.

  3. Honestly, that sounds a bit risky and a little naive, especially if you’re just starting. Have you thought about things like taxes or health insurance? Those can sneak up on you. It’s probably not the best idea to quit your day job just yet.

If your current job is making you miserable, maybe try switching to something less draining while you work on building your OF and other online income streams. Once you’re making consistent money and feel more secure, then you can think about going all in.

  4. Think of it like taking on a second job – it really is that much work. If you had another job, you’d expect to put in extra hours, right? The same goes for OnlyFans. You’re not just doing the “fun” stuff like shooting content, you’re also editing, posting, promoting, chatting, and dealing with time-wasters. And even with all that effort, there’s no guarantee of success.

At first, it might feel exciting and creative because it’s something you choose to do. But once it becomes something you have to do regularly, it’s easier to feel burnt out or disheartened.

Not trying to be a downer, just keeping it real – there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes than people realize.

That said, give it a try! See how you feel after 6 months. If you’re making enough to live on and save a bit too, then it might be worth going all in.
